The Captured "Countrey People": Their Depiction and Medical History

The paper examines the fate of the Inuk taken captive during the first voyage, who came to London in 1576, and that of the Inuit man, woman and child who were brought to Bristol after the second voyage in 1577. Their activities in England, the medical attention they received, and their fatal illnesses and burials are described. Reference is made to contemporary pictures of them.
