Army and Navy

Little research has been done on the history of Army and Navy. This company is not related to the firm of the same name that was founded in England in the second half of the 19th century. Located at the Vancouver store, the corporate archives contain catalogues, newspaper clippings, photographs, financial documents, etc.

  • Fonds de Dupuis Frères Limitée 1868-1978, P049. This fonds contains textual records and other documents: annual reports, merchandise catalogues, Le Duprex, and photographs. It is the best source of information on the company, which declared bankruptcy.

  • Committee on Price Spreads. Proceedings, Royal Commission on Price Spreads and Mass Buying, vol. 3, 1934.

Daily newspapers such as Le Devoir, The Montreal Star, and La Presse are a good source of information on the strike. Le Travail, the CTCC newsletter, is also very useful. Other documentation can be found at the Archives de la CSN in Montréal, as well as in the Dupuis Frères fonds held at Hautes Études Commerciales in Montréal, including the "scrapbook."
